“Affability”

An affable person is one who is not difficult to approach or talk to because of his polite and friendly being. He is "down-to-earth,"- as the expression goes—not aloof or beyond the normal means of communication.

A lot of persons are stopped short of success because of a "snooty" or "I am better than you" attitude. Instead of attracting people. customers, clients, patients, they repel them.

Watch this one at the time he first tastes success—the corporal that just got his chevrons, the second lieutenant that just received his commission, the salesman just assigned to the home office, the new junior executive, the man or woman who has just received his first tidy sum of money. The fruitful results of applying other success principles can go down the drain if one fails to make affability a part of his personality.

Antidote selfishness with a feeling of kindness and goodwill to all peoples. Be just as willing to communicate kindly with the waitress, the elevator operator, the maid, the clerk, yes—even the garbage man, and all those with lean pocketbooks when your paths cross, as you would in dealing with the "stuffed shirts" with fat pocketbooks. To neglect the small courtesies of life is to insure neglect for yourself.

I am talking to you in plain language but it is a language that can be understood and if only applied it can mean the difference to you between success and failure in life.
