“Benevolence”

Benevolence, simply stated, is the desire to do good for others. Doing good is the only certain happy action of a man's life. The very consciousness of well-doing is in itself ample reward for our efforts in this right direction.
In a moral sense we know "that it is more blessed to five than to receive." Now that we understand nature's Law of Cause and Effect, and the Law of Compensation, we can appreciate the fact that good deeds double in the doing, and the larger half comes back to the donor sooner or later.

From time to time a benevolent one might be taken advantage of by an unscrupulous person or persons but don't let this affect the good in you. Remember the statement from Emerson in his Essay on Compensation when he said in words to this effect—"It is as impossible for one to be cheated by another as it is to be and not to be at the same time."
Whatever you give up is going to come back to you. Good or evil sent forth inevitably return and more often than not, greatly multiplied.

Be good. Do good. There is no success without it
